Garden Club Season To Open With Workshop

The Garden Club of Newtown will open its 2003-04 year with a potluck luncheon and workshop that will feature designing and making fall arrangements.

The club will meet at noon on Tuesday, September 23, in the lower meeting room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown, for lunch. The business meeting and workshop will follow lunch.  Anyone who is interested in attending can call 270-1108 for more information.

Members will work in teams to create fall flowers displays of fresh or dried arrangements. The arrangements will then be displayed at C.H. Booth Library, Matthew Curtiss House and Newtown schools.

An annual greens sale in December is the main fundraiser for the club, which contributes to the Newtown community in many ways such as maintaining the gardens at the Matthew Curtiss House, creating a butterfly garden at the senior center, and awarding college scholarships through the Newtown Scholarship Fund. The club is always happy to welcome new members.
