To Speak On Child Safety At UNH
WEST HAVEN â John and Magi Bish, the parents of abducted Massachusetts teen Molly Bish, will speak on Saturday, November 19, at 10 am, at the University of New Havenâs Bartels Hall. The lecture will be followed by preparation of Child Identification Kits for families from 11:45 am to 4 pm.
Sixteen-year-old Molly Bish was abducted on June 27, 2000, from Comins Pond in Warren, Mass., where she worked as a lifeguard. The efforts of law enforcement, the media and community in the search for Molly were unprecedented. The extensive search for Molly came to its end three years later, on June 9, 2003, when Mollyâs body was found just five miles from her family home.
An intensive investigation into Mollyâs abduction is ongoing. There are currently suspects in Mollyâs abduction and a Grand Jury has been appointed.
The purpose of the Molly Bish Foundation is to bring awareness of Mollyâs abduction and to keep her in peopleâs minds and hearts as well as continue with the search for her abductor so that no other child and no other family will have to endure such sadness.
âTragically, we hear about missing children cases all too frequently,â says Mario Gaboury, JD, PhD, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at the University of New Haven, and advisor for the UNH Victimology Club, which is sponsoring the event.
âThose first few hours and days are absolutely critical to recovering missing kids safely; and having this information readily available for law enforcement can be of immeasurable assistance,â Dr Gaboury continued.â This is essential to protecting your child in todayâs world.â
The event is free and open to the public.
