Friends of Counted Embroidery-Laurel Chapter will begin its new season of meetings on Thursday, September 13, from 10 am until approximately 2 pm. After decades of meeting in Newtown, the club now meets at Stony Hill Fire Department in Bethel.

Klickers Hair Studio, 147 Mount Pleasant Road, will host its Eighth Annual Cut-A-Thon on Sunday, September 16, from 10 am to 2 pm. All proceeds from the special event will benefit The Women's Center of Greater Danbury.

Newtown Hikers is an open group welcoming anyone interested in hiking and the outdoors. Hikes are held Saturday mornings, with the group leaving from the lower rear parking lot of Edmond Town Hall at 9 am.
