The Seventh Annual Claris Construction Inc Summer Jam Concert Series, through Newtown’s Parks & Recreation Department, kicked off with an evening performance by Rolie Polie Guacamolie on July 9. Guests filled the lawn of Dickinson Park for the family event, the first of five concerts and a movie night planned for this season.

“Oohs” and “ahhs” were actually heard in one of Reed Intermediate School’s classrooms late Tuesday morning, when the 44th Annual Friends of the C.H. Booth Library Book Sale 2019 T-shirt was unveiled to volunteers. Newtown artist Tracy Van Buskirk created a whimsical design for this year's fundraiser, which opens at Reed School on Saturday, July 13.

The feeling of putting hands in the dirt while getting fresh air is something that perhaps brings older gardeners back to their youthful days of playing outside and getting messy without a care.
