On November 10-11, Newtown Troop 770 Boy Scout Baxter Page will be conducting a two-day collection for the Saint Vincent De Paul Mission in Waterbury as part of his work to become an Eagle Scout. Baxter will be stationed in front of C.H. Booth Library those afternoons, and is seeking donations of new and/or gently used towles, pillowcases and whtie socks.

Riding trails on horseback is something many people can only experience vicariously if they do not leave their community. In Newtown, however, thanks to the Newtown Bridle Lands Association (NBLA), horse lovers do not have to watch a movie to see people saddle up, or if they are equestrians, they need not trailer their gelding somewhere else to ride.

A relatively compact collection of antique bottles, grocery ledgers, receipts, and tattered comics discovered at a former Sandy Hook grocery store were instantly deemed “snapshot in time” treasures when they were spread out in front of Newtown Historian Dan Cruson.

Newtown’s canine version of Halloween, known as Howl-O-Ween, drew about 75 participants and their dogs to the event held on Sunday, October 28, at Park & Bark, the town’s fenced off-leash dog park at Fairfield Hills.
