New England Landscapes By Larson At Minor Memorial Library

ROXBURY — A reception from 1 to 3 pm on Saturday, January 20, will launch the first art show of the new season at Roxbury’s Minor Memorial Library. An exhibit and sale of oil paintings and limited edition prints by the internationally acclaimed artist Frank Larson will also mark the debut of Mr Larson’s work in Litchfield County. It will continue until February 28.

Many of the paintings will be exhibited for the first time anywhere. Mr Larson’s colorful paintings reflect both the lush Vermont countryside and the dunes and seascapes of Cape Cod.

Once a successful corporate graphic designer, Mr Larson has concentrated on landscape painting for over 15 years and his landscapes have been exhibited and acclaimed at art shows throughout New England and internationally.

Mr Larson’s work has won many awards and he has been featured in numerous publications including a profile article in American Artist magazine. Of his work, the magazine said, “Larson’s landscapes rush across the canvas in great paint laden brush strokes — as ravishing to the eye as Puccini is to the ear.”

A graduate of Yale University, Mr Larson studied art in various schools around the country, ultimately at the famed Vermont Studio School in Johnson, Vt. He moved to that state in 1986, where he began a full-time career as a landscape artist.

Mr Larson now divides his time between Vermont and Cape Cod, where he is co-owner of The Larson Gallery in Provincetown with his brother, Roxbury resident Robert Larson.

Minor Memorial Library, at 23 South Street, can be reached by calling 860/350-2181.
