Nicholas Piperis

Nicholas Piperis, 86, of Sandy Hook died January 2, with his wife Rosalie and four children by his side. He was born June 4, 1927, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., to Maria and Pasquale Piperis, and was raised there. 

He lived in White Plains, N.Y., when he and Rosalie got married in 1952, and later moved to Sandy Hook where they resided for the past 16 years. He and Rosalie were married for more than 62 years.

Mr Piperis was the proud father of Patricia Gommo, married to David, of Sandy Hook, Maria Kaminski, married to Terry, of Yorktown, N.Y., Joseph Piperis of Rye Brook, N.Y., and Nick Piperis of Yorktown; and the adoring grandfather of his 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Metzler, and brother, Joseph Piperis. 

Mr Piperis was a Navy veteran and served during World War II.  He was employed by American Bank Note as a lithographer for more than 40 years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, cultivating his garden, and following the New York Yankees.

Calling hours to honor his life took place Monday, January 6, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 7, in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, at 10:30 am.
