The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) is presenting its annual Color in Winter Art Show & Sale at Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street within the Fairfield Hills campus, to February 28.

Show hours are Monday through Friday between 8 am and 4:30 pm.

SCAN is dedicated to promoting art and art education in the region. Some of the finest traditional and contemporary artists in the area will exhibit works in oils, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, mixed media and sculpture.

A reception to meet with participating artists and other members of SCAN will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 22, from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. The public is also invited to a live oil painting demonstration with Southbury artist Rick Daskam at 1:30.

Those seeking additional information may call show chair Garry Thomas at 203-798-7439 or visit www.scanart.org.

Rick Daskam, who created the painting shown here, will offer a special demonstration with oils on Wednesday, January 22, at Newtown Municipal Center. The program will begin at 1:30 pm, the same time SCAN will host an opening reception for its annual winter show and sale.
