Newtown High School’s boys’ swim team posted a 90-78 win at Weston on January 18.

The 200 yard medley relay of James Guerrieri, Grant Carson, Gabe Petertonjes, and Kris Luci Bernard was second in a time of 1:58.52

Peter Horan won the 200 free in 1:51.22. Matt Irving was runner-up in the 200 individual medley race in 2:16.19. Newtown had a one-two finish in the 50 free as Max Luci-Bernard edged out teammate Connor Kwarcinski; they recorded times of 23.61 and 23.94.

In the 100 butterfly event, Petertonjes was second in a time of 1:00.14. In the 100 free, Kwarcinski came in second in 52.66. James Guerrieri came in second in the 500, making his final touch in 5:52.10.

The 200 free relay contingent of Kwarcinski, Irving, Kris Luci-Bernard, and Horan was first in 1:35.98.

Horan gave the Nighthawks another win by clocking in with the best time in the 100 backstroke race at 56.18.

Grant Carson was second in the 100 breaststroke race with a time of 1:13.97.

The 400 free relay of Kwarcinski, Irving, Max Luci-Bernard, and Horan was second in 3:31.84.
