The dispatchers at the Newtown Emergency Communications Center at Town Hall South, 3 Main Street, report the following fire calls and the responders:

Thursday, January 16: 10:59 am, wires down, near 18 Old Hawleyville Road, Hawleyville responded; 8:39 pm, motor vehicle accident, near 229 Berkshire Road, Sandy Hook responded; 9:07 pm structure fire which was actually a vehicle fire, 15 Papoose Hill Road, Hook & Ladder, Sandy Hook, Botsford, and Hawleyville responded.

Friday, January 17: 3:34 am, medical assist, Hanover Road, Hook & Ladder responded; 7:29 am, wires down, near 63 Queen Street, Hook & Ladder responded; 1:50 pm, brush fire, near 351 South Main Street, Botsford and Hook & Ladder responded; 5:35 pm, medical assist, near intersection of Poverty Hollow Road, Hattertown Road, and Key Rock Road, Dodgingtown responded; 10:27 pm, vehicle fire, I-84, Hawleyville responded.

Saturday, January 18: 9:18 am, alarm, 166 Mt Pleasant Road, Hawleyville, Sandy Hook, and Hook & Ladder responded; 12:03 pm, alarm, 19 Valley View Road, Hook & Ladder responded; 2:33 pm, medical assist, near intersection of Berkshire Road and Oakview Road, Sandy Hook responded; 3:43 pm, wires down, near 118 Toddy Hill Road, Botsford responded; 4:29 pm, investigation, 48 Taunton Lake Road, Hook & Ladder responded.

Sunday, January 19: 8:56 am, medical assist, Lakeview Terrace, Sandy Hook responded; 9:04 am, training drill, 196 Hanover Road, NUSAR responded; 5:57 pm, alarm, 62 Castle Meadow Road, Botsford responded.

Tuesday, January 21: 8:32 am, alarm, 64 Old Hawleyville Road, Hawleyville responded.

Wednesday, January 22: 7:31 am, odor of gas indoors, 4 Elizabeth Street, Hook & Ladder and Sandy Hook responded; 8:47 am, medical assist, Toddy Hill Road, Botsford responded; 5:39 pm, investigation, near intersection of Poverty Hollow Road and Flat Swamp Road, Dodgingtown responded; 8:02 pm, medical assist, South Main Street, Botsford responded; 9:09 pm, investigation, 57 Church Hill Road, Hook & Ladder responded.

Thursday, January 23: 3:35 am, alarm, 46 Barnabas Road, Hawleyville responded.

This 2006 Chevrolet diesel pickup truck was destoyed in an accidental vehicle fire that occurred near a detached garage at 15 Papoose Hill Road about 9:07 pm on January 16. There were no injuries. The adjacent garage received minor damage in the incident. Fire Marshal Rich Frampton estimated damage at more than $15,000. Newtown Hook & Ladder and Sandy Hook volunteer firefighters went to the scene and put out the blaze with water carried on fire trucks.—Newtown Fire Marshal photo.
