Thursday, January 18: 2:22 am, fire alarm, 153 South Main Street, Botsford responded; 12:58 am, motor vehicle accident (MVA), Church Hill Road at Walnut Tree Hill Road, Sandy Hook responded; 4:25 pm, MVA, Berkshire Road at Sherman Street, Sandy Hook responded; 4:41 pm, MVA, Zoar Road (see photo), Sandy Hook responded.

Tuesday, January 23: 7:43 am, MVA, South Main at Cold Spring, Botsford responded; 1:49 pm, fire alarm, 10 Mile Hill Road, Hook & Ladder and Sandy Hook responded; 4:44 pm, tree/wires down, 9 Park Lane, Hook & Ladder responded.

Wednesday, January 24: 8:13 am, MVA, 3 Old Hawleyville Road, Hawleyville responded; 4:22 pm, gas leak, 332 South Main Street, Botsford responded.

Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Newtown Police were dispatched to Zoar Road west of its intersection with Bennetts Bridge Road around 4:40 pm Thursday, January 18, following a two-vehicle crash with no injuries. First responders found a 2018 Toyota Highlander and a 2013 Jeep Wrangler had collided head-on on the icy road. The male driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital for suspected minor injuries; the female driver of the Jeep refused medical attention. The Highlander was towed from the scene; the Jeep was driven away. The crash closed the road to through traffic for approximately one hour. Public Works also responded to sand the full length of Zoar. Additional details were unavailable as this week’s paper went to press. —Bee Photo, Hicks
