The next exhibition at A&F Gallery, 77 Main Street, will be a collection of new works by Bethel artist Katie Bassett.

“Time” will be on view February 8 to March 21 and will open with a public reception on Saturday, February 8, from 5 to 7 pm.

In addition to having the first opportunity to view the collection, guests will be invited to enjoy hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer, and live music by Calamity Hill.

The new works by Ms Bassett offer an exploration of materials, time, and memories. The artist’s passion for sculptural forms, unconventional material use, and abstractions is evident in this new body of work.

Her works are forward and raw, evoking images of the figure and textures derivative of nature. Heavily textured, dyed, and sewn, the pieces in “Time” reflect imagery and emotions that are deeply personal and ardent.

Ms Bassett is a graduate of Western Connecticut’s BFA and MFA programs. She currently resides in Bethel with her husband and young daughter. She is, according to her bio, “a crunchy mom, avid recycler, and plant hobbyist.”

Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm, and by appointment.

Call 203-270-0222 to make an appointment. Additional information is also available at ArtandFrameofNewtown.com The gallery can also be reached at ArtandFrameofNewtown@gmail.com.

In addition to serving as a fine art gallery, A&F Gallery serves the local art community with custom framing and a local craft gallery.

Hand-dyed kraft and rice paper, thread, dress pins, and roses can all be seen in “Pink Work Detail,” which itself is a close-up view of “Sally’s Escape” by Katie Bassett.
