On January 1, 2024, after a long and hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s disease, Muriel Lynn Moulthrop peacefully ended her journey on this earth. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Lynn was born in Watertown, Conn., and graduated from Watertown High School in 1958. She accomplished her goal of becoming a nurse in 1962 at Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing in Boston. Her love of the mountains drew her west to Colorado where she worked as a nurse at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She continued her education at Metropolitan State College in Denver where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1979. She then returned to Boston and earned her Master of Science degree in nursing at Boston University in 1981.

After earning her MSN, Lynn worked as a clinical director of Parent-Child Nursing at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, Va., for six years. She was then drawn back to New England and worked as a clinical director at Maine Medical Center. One of her proudest accomplishments was her leadership in the opening of the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center in 1995.

Lynn first visited Cape Cod with her family in 1941 and was a frequent visitor throughout her life. When she retired, she called Falmouth her home for 22 years. Until the very end, she always wanted to be at the beach or near the water. Lynn gave back to her community as a volunteer at the Falmouth Service Center for over ten years.

Lynn served her country for over 20 years and retired from the United States Army Reserve Medical Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Lynn was predeceased by her parents Muriel (McLean) Moulthrop and Frederick Gilbert Moulthrop, her brother Frederick “Seth” Moulthrop, and her sister-in-law Cheryl Tilson Moulthrop.

She is survived by her brother Bruce Watson Moulthrop and his children Erin Moulthrop Karsif, her husband Benjamin, and their children Owen and Logan, and Stephen Charles Moulthrop, his wife Isabel, and their children Paisley and Avery, and many loving friends and colleagues.

Lynn loved to ski in the Colorado mountains, swim at Old Silver Beach and travel to destinations around the world, with her friends Pat and George Gales. She was a joy to be with and had a wonderful sense of humor. If you needed Lynn, she was always there for you.

Thank you to the administration and staff at Heritage at Falmouth and Cahoon Care for the caring and compassionate care she received during her time with you.

A Graveside Service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Watertown on Monday, February 5, at 1 pm.
