*American Idol title holder TAYLOR HICKS (no relation) will headline his first Connecticut concert on April 6. Tickets for that Foxwoods Fox Theater show will be going on sale Tuesday, February 13, but I don’t have pricing details yet.

Will keep you guys posted.

Meanwhile, JOHNNY WINTER has a pair of free shows scheduled at the casino’s Club BB. The shows are free of admission, but attendees must be at least 21 years or older.

*DAVE MASON played at Club BB earlier this week and will be headlining tonight at The Ridgefield Playhouse and then co-headlining tomorrow night with JOHN SEBASTIAN at North Fork Theatre in Westbury, L.I., N.Y.

Fellow Bee editor John Voket caught the Foxwoods show this week and had the opportunity to speak a few times with the legendary Hall of Famer. Be sure to check out John’s interview with Mr Mason nearby and then see if you can catch one of this weekend’s shows.

*Speaking of JOHN VOKET, please note that his gig at Proud Mary’s this weekend has been postponed. The room has been booked by a private client, so hang on to those song requests and expectations.

The second monthly fundraiser for the 2007 Newtown Relay For Life is still on, however, and will happen at the same venue on Friday, February 16, from 8 to 11:30 pm.

*ELTON JOHN will make his 13th career appearance at Hartford Civic Center next month.

Tickets for a March 21 show on John’s 2007 Greatest Hits Tour will be going on sale Monday, February 5, at 10 am. The show will feature Elton John performing with longtime band members Davey Johnstone on guitar, Guy Babylon on keyboards, Bob Birch on bass, John Mahon on percussion, and Nigel Olsson on drums.

John was the final performer to play the old New Haven Arena in 1972, a show that was promoted by Jim Koplik. Today Mr Koplik is the president of Live Nation Connecticut, which is promoting this latest tour; Koplik has in fact been involved in promoting every one of the 13 shows the flamboyant performer has done in the state we call home.

Ticket prices run from $59 to $139, which service charges added to each ticket prices. Buy tickets at LiveNation.com and any TicketMaster outlet (phone, online or in-stone).  There is an eight ticket per person limit.

*Following two sold out shows last summer, INDIGO GIRLS will return for five performances in Mohegan Sun’s Cabaret Theatre. The duo will be in Incasville for nightly performances Wednesday, March 14, through Sunday, March 18.

Tickets are $40 and have already been put on sale. Contact Mohegan Sun’s box office or any TicketMaster vendor.

*Also already on sale are the tickets for LAST OF THE BREED, the trio made up of country music legends WILLIE NELSON, MERLE HAGGARD, RAY PRICE and ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL.

This show will roll into Mohegan Sun Arena on Wednesday, March 21, and tickets are available for $30 and $45.

As with the Indigo Girls shows, contact the Mohegan Sun box office or TicketMaster for tickets.

*JOE PROC and his band will be at Redding Roadhouse tonight, performing with Steve Clarke and Abu as OFF THE HOOK. Showtime is 9:30; call the restaurant at 203-938-3388 for details.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470. Email address is or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141.
