Meet The Sycamores At Ridgefield Theater Barn

RIDGEFIELD — For anyone who thinks their family is nuts, try meeting the Sycamores of You Can’t Take It With You. The Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy will open at Ridgefield Theater Barn on Friday, February 16, and will run weekends until March 10.

Show times are 8 pm Friday and Saturday, and 3 pm for the matinee on Sunday, February 25. Adult tickets are $15, or $12 for seniors and students.

Show seating is cabaret-style, and doors open one hour before show time. Audiences are invited to bring their own dinner or refreshments and enjoy the performance while dining by candlelight.

The play, which opened in 1936, depicts the eccentricities of the Sycamore family which include making fireworks, circulating manifestoes in boxes of chocolates, and collecting colorful strays – like the Grand Duchess Olga Katrina, now a waitress of Child’s Restaurant in Times Square. When Alice Sycamore invites her fiancé’s rich parents to dinner, the clash of cultures between the two families threatens to derail her romance.

Directed by Barry Corn of Ridgefield, You Can’t Take It With You features a cast of 17 local actors. The theatre barn’s box office can be contacted at 203/431-9850.
