Swimming And Diving Team Defeats Wave

Newtown High School's boys' swimming and diving team defeated the visiting New Milford Green Wave 93-85 on February 4.

Newtown's 200 yard medley relay team of Peter Horan, Colden Bobowick, Jack Wojtowicz, and Max Luci-Bernard was first in a time of 1:53.22.

Rick Irving on the 200 freestyle race in 1:51.29. Dan Godino was first in the 200 individual medley, making his final touch in 2:11.42. Mason Suba won the 50 free in 23.16.

Joe Moran was second in the diving competition with a score of 146.55 after recently adding to the degree of difficulty in his dives.

Suba won the 100 butterfly race in 54.78. Irving was first in the 100 free in 49.09. Horan took the top spot in the 500 with a time of 5:29.50.

The 200 free relay of Irving, Wojtowicz, Godino, and Suba was first in 1:35.30.

Horan won the 100 backstroke race in 1:02.22. Bobowick was first in the 100 breaststroke event in 1:07.86.

Newtown, with the team victory locked up, exhibitioned the final event. The fastest time was turned in by the team of Suba, Horan, Godino, and Irving in 3:37.64.
