Occupation: I am the CFO at Newtown Savings Bank, and this summer will make 15 years I’ve been doing this. I take care of anything financial — budgeting, reporting, profitability reporting, and a lot of other things.

Family: My wife Margaret and I have been married for 18 years. We have a son, Tim, who is 12, and a daughter, Ally, who is 9 years old.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We moved to Sandy Hook in 1997. When we first got married, we lived in Valley Cottage, N.Y. I grew up in New Jersey and Margaret was in Massachusetts, so that seemed right in between.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to run. I’ve done a couple of half marathons, and last year, for the first time, I did a sprint marathon. I enjoy doing things with the kids. My son is in jazz band, and I like seeing him perform. Ally plays both soccer and basketball, so I like to watch her games. I’m the treasurer for the C.H. Booth Library Board of Trustees. Both my wife and I are lectors at St Rose. Our family is pretty active there. I do like movies. I gravitate toward comedies.

Do you have a favorite actor? I love Chevy Chase. Christmas Vacation is one I try to watch every holiday season.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Wildwood Crest, N.J., is a favorite family vacation spot. My own family has gone there since before I was born, and I’ve been going since I was 2 years old. Now, going with our kids, it’s really fun reliving my childhood through their eyes. We go every summer. It’s like home away from home.

What is the best thing about Newtown? I would say the people, especially after the December 14 tragedy. The community spirit, resiliency, and love shown toward each other to get through a difficult time was amazing.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? My wife. She and I are best friends. She is my soul mate, I would say, and the most patient and compassionate person I’ve ever met. I feel lucky to be walking through life with her.

Do you have a personal philosophy? I try to remind myself every day to remember the things that are most important in life. For me, the most important things are family, health, and happiness. My dad passed away at a young age 25 years ago. He and I were very close and I still miss him. That experience clearly has shaped my personal philosophy.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I’m kind of a softy for popcorn. I can just smell it at a carnival and I have to go get some. I like a box of popcorn, now and then. I try not to do that too often, since it’s not the best thing for you.
