A confidential and embracing support group for those who have concerns or questions about their child or loved one’s possible use or abuse of drugs and alcohol. Bereavement Group, the offices of the Newtown Parent Connection, 2 Washington Square, Fairfield Hills, first Wednesday of the month, 7-8:30 pm. A compassionate venue for those who have lost a child or loved one to substance abuse or a catastrophic circumstance. This meeting is facilitated by a licensed therapist. The Heart of Men Circle, Sticks and Stones Farm, 197 Huntingtown Road, second Wednesday of each month, meet in parking lot at 6:45 pm and catch a ride to the top of the mountain where the outdoor meeting takes place. Connect with other men in an outdoor setting. Although we will be around a fire, please dress weather appropriate. Lyme Connection, Ridgefield Town Hall Annex, 66 Prospect Street, second Thursday of each month, 5-7 pm. Free support group for tickborne disease patients and loved ones. The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, 207 Main Street, Ridgefield, second Thursday of each month, 6:30-8 pm. For family members of those with mental illness, open to all Fairfield County residents; contact Marc at 203-940-2516.

Support For Friends & Family of Alzheimer’s patients (and related dementias), Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut, 444 Main Street North, Southbury, second Thursday of each month, 10:30 am. Free, open, ongoing group helps participants develop methods and skills to solve problems, encourages caretakers to maintain their own personal, physical, and emotional health, as well as optimally care for the person with dementia. Meetins is facilitated by Alzheimer’s Association volunteer.
