NHS Stands Out With First-Place Finishes At Championship Meet

Newtown High School's girls' and boys' track and field teams had some stellar performances, including first-place results, at the February 8 South-West Conference championship meet, at Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

The girls placed second and the boys were fourth. There were numerous top-ten finishes by the Nighthawks.

In the 55 meter dash Elise Barricelli was first in a time of 7.57 seconds. Riley Powers won the 1600 in 5:20.17.

Sarah Nowacki won the shot-put event with a throw of 35-03.50; teammate Anna Burns was second with a 32-04.25.

The 4x800 relay team of Aidan Budge, Drew Poseno, Nick Jacobs, and Will Tainter-Gilbert was first in a time of 8:34.32.
