Drug Arrest

Police said that at about 4:13 am on February 1, they received a report concerning a motorist’s driving behavior, so they stopped the motorist in question on Riverside Road to investigate the matter.

After a search of the vehicle that she was driving, they found a small amount of illegal drugs in the woman’s possession. Police said they charged Zoey Loglisci, 27, of Southbury with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).

Police released Loglisci on a written promise to appear for a February 19 court appearance to answer the charge.

SUV Crash

Motorist Andrew Hickey, 23, of Newtown, was driving a 2003 Ford Escape SUV on Brushy Hill Road and attempting to make a turn onto Castle Meadow Road at about 8:44 pm on February 1 when the vehicle slid off the pavement and then collided with a stop sign and a street-name sign, police said.

There were no injuries. Hickey received an infraction for making an improper turn and failing to carry a driver’s license.

DUI Arrest

Police said they received a call at about 10:30 pm on February 1 informing them of an erratic driver traveling in the vicinity of the intersection of High Bridge Road and New Lebbon Road.

Police found the motorist in question on Toddy Hill Road and investigated, charging Lisa K. Gillman, 54, of Ridgefield, with driving under the influence. After arrest processing, police released Gillman on $500 bail for a February 19 court appearance.

Volvo Vs Pole

Police report that at 1:21 am on January 30, motorist Curtis Williamson, 22, of Sandy Hook was driving a 2008 Volvo XC-90 SUV northbound on Walnut Tree Hill Road when the vehicle drove off the street north of Walnut Tree Hill Road’s intersection with Bridge End Farm Lane, and then collided with two mailboxes and a utility pole.

Williamson and a female passenger then left the scene of the accident, police said. Both were located at Williamson’s residence and were checked by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, which released them.

Police charged Williamson with evading responsibility and with making a restricted turn. Williamson is scheduled to appear in court on the charges.

Intersection Accident

Police report that a two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Mt Pleasant Road and Diamond Drive at about 7:59 am on January 30.

Motorist Michael Alpert, 68, of Newtown, was driving a 2016 Honda CR-V SUV southward on Diamond Drive and then stopped at a stop sign at its intersection with Mt Pleasant Road. At that time, motorist Ratka Knezevich-Rebora, 33, of Sandy Hook, was driving a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV westward on Mt Pleasant Road. The Honda then turned left to enter the intersection, resulting in the two vehicles colliding.

Knezevich-Rebora was transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation, police said. Alpert received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign. (A photo of this accident appeared in the January 31 edition of The Newtown Bee.)

Ford Vs Ford

Motorist Kaia Gioffre, 16, of Newtown, was driving a 2014 Ford Escape SUV northward on Washington Avenue, near Pearl Street, at about 2:48 pm on January 29, as a 2010 Ford Focus driven by Jerome Srogi, IV, 17, of Sandy Hook, was traveling behind the Ford, according to police.

The Escape slowed and was struck from behind by the Focus. There were no injuries. Srogi received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Commercial Van

Jose Trinidad-Garcia, 27, of Danbury, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Express G-1500 commercial van westward on Mt Pleasant Road, in the area between its two intersections with Blackman Road, at about 5:21 pm on January 20, when he lost control of the vehicle and drove off the left shoulder, striking a curbside residential mailbox and then hitting a tree, police said.

There were no injuries. Trinidad-Garcia received an infraction for failure to drive to the right.

Rollover Accident

State police report that at about midnight on January 29, motorist Ryan Pittman, 22, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2011 Acura TSX sedan on Interstate 84’s combined Exit 11 off-ramp, entered the area near the end of that ramp and was negotiating a sharp curve to the right, when he lost control of the Acura and it rolled over.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps evaluated Pittman at the scene but made no transport. State police issued Pittman an infraction for failure to maintain the proper lane.
