To the Editor:

In 2017, I was dismayed driving down Church Hill Road to see the quaint view of Sandy Hook center marred by large “Vote for Rebekah” signs months before the November election. I checked the sign ordinances and voiced my concern to town leaders. That spurred my dive into Newtown volunteering and getting to know Rebekah. Now, eight months before the election, I’m writing to support the candidacy of Rebekah Harriman-Stites for the 106th district in the CT House of Representatives.

While there is a lot of time on the calendar, before we know it will be election day. Use this time to get to know Rebekah. Her vitality, enthusiasm, and gracious manner will come across immediately. Many know her Board of Education service, but less known is her success as a small businessperson and contributor to social services in Connecticut. I have found her to be an active learner, creative, and more interested in fixing problems than fixing blame. It’s way too early to see “Vote for Rebekah” signs, but it is time to meet Rebekah to learn why she is the positive representation we need in Hartford.
