Edward H. Bremen, Jr, 74, of Newtown, Conn., passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Danbury Hospital after a brief illness, with his family by his side. He was affectionately know as “Big Ed” to his friends.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jean (Cranston); their two children, Jennifer Landgrebe (Timothy) of Southbury, Conn., and Jason of Newtown, Conn.; two grandchildren, Katrina Borchert (Ricky) and Justin Landgrebe; and two great-grandchildren, Landon and Arlow Borchert. He is survived by his younger brother, Richard (Tracy) of Colorado, and stepmother, Patricia of Florida. Ed was also a proud uncle and stepbrother.

He was born on May 2, 1947, in New Rochelle, N.Y., to Edward Sr and Doreen (Banfield) Bremen. They later moved to Purdys, N.Y., where Ed graduated from North Salem High School in 1965. He entered the Air Force and was stationed in Libya. Upon leaving the Air Force, he went to work at IBM for over forty years and retired in 2010. He traveled for work and enjoyed meeting new people.

Ed was a great lover of music and it was always a big part of his life. He often watched car racing and loved driving in his Dodge Challenger. He was a huge fan of baseball and played for many years on the IBM softball league. He enjoyed watching his grandson, Justin, play baseball any chance he could get.

Ed always had a warm smile, quick wit, and fantastic sense of humor. He had a way of grounding others with a sense of comfort and was one of the most trustworthy people you could ever meet. He was loved immensely by his family. His passing leaves a hole in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the staff of Danbury Hospital and family and friends for their support.

A celebration of Ed’s life will take place at a later date.

Ed, You will be missed by everyone who knew you, family & friends. I will miss the times we shared music, cars, car shows, slot car racing, but most of all a long lasting friendship. You may be gone but will never be forgotten like a big Brotha. Chick

Ed and I were classmates in High School. We kept in touch at class reunions and in the past few years with monthly phone calls. He was a remarkably capable and friendly guy. I will miss him until we meet again.
