Newtown Community Center Director Matt Ariniello and Women Involved in Newtown (WIN) Co-Presidents Cyndy DaSilva and Mandy Monaco officially launched WIN’s 2020 Easter Basket Collection on February 14, from its newest collection point.

The public is asked to donate candy, baskets, filler/plastic grass, and gently used animals ahead of Easter. WIN will fill nearly 200 baskets for children and candy bags for young adults, who will receive the baskets through local organizations.

WIN is expanding its collection this year to include canned or dry food for cats and dogs.

“We’re adding that this year to honor The Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation,” Ms Monaco said.

Items can be dropped at the community center, 8 Simpson Street; Ms Monaco’s home, 1 Beckett Village Road in Sandy Hook; or Middle Gate School, 12 Cold Spring Road. Donations are requested by April 1.

Contact Ms Monaco for additional information at 203-426-5600.
