Holly Kocet and Mary Gaudet-Wilson, co-founders of Protect Our Pollinators, will be the special guests during the next Horticulture Club of Newtown meeting.

The public is invited to join club members on Thursday, March 14, at 7 pm, at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street.

That evening, Ms Kocet and Ms Gaudet-Wilson will discuss their efforts to create a Pollinator Pathway in Newtown. A Pollinator Pathway is a pesticide-free corridor of public and private properties that provide native plant habitat and nutrition for bees, butterflies, and other important animal pollinators.

Towns and property owners participate by creating healthy yards and public spaces for pollinators, pets, and their families.

Pollinator Pathways are needed because many of native bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects are in decline due to land fragmentation, small private land ownership, and a lawn culture that requires excessive fertilizers and chemicals that offer no benefit to wildlife.

Light refreshments will be served following the presentation.

There is a $5 fee for nonmembers to attend.
