Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue and Newtown Hook & Ladder responded to a fully involved vehicle fire on I-84 West, just prior to the Church Hill Road overpass, shortly after 1 pm Wednesday, February 21. The male driver of the vehicle, a 2001 Toyota Camry, was able to exit the vehicle without injury. The accident slowed traffic for nearly three miles, but firefighters were able to keep one lane open while they, CT State Police troopers and a CT DOT crew were on scene.
