Above And Beyond

To the Editor:

So often I hear negative stories about the selling or buying of a house. I just did both and wanted to take a moment to sing the praises of my real estate agent Doug Collins of Keller Williams. Leading up to the sale of my home he always kept in contact as well as staging open houses and running print ads. These are things that I expect of the agent selling my home, and he did not disappoint.

What I did not expect was that on the day of my closing, when he stopped by at the house I was selling and he saw that I was running behind that he would: finish cleaning it while I went to my closing, take my trash and recycling to the dump, and then show up to my new home and move furniture (I had hurt my knee and was unable to navigate the stairs or move heavy items). This was particularly surprising, because the house I purchased was not on the Multiple Listings, and Doug did not receive a commission in this sale.

In a town where there are almost as many real estate agents as there are homes for sale and where most of the houses are nice enough to sell themselves Doug’s actions not only made my sale and purchase effortless, but I believe he has distinguished himself as what all real estate salespeople should aspire to.
