Medical Town Meetings At Danbury Hospital
DANBURY â Danbury Hospital plans an ongoing series of programs, called Medical Town Meetings, in the hospital auditorium on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 pm in March and April.
âBaby Quest: Planning Your Journey to Parenthoodâ will be held on Tuesday, March 13. The Family Birth Center will prepare couples for pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood. There will be exhibits in the auditorium foyer.
Featured speakers will be Dr Howard Blanchette, chairman of the hospitalâs Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Dee Campbell, a registered nurse and lactation consultant; Sandy McGuire, doula program coordinator; Dr Eitan Kilchevsky, neonatologist; and registered nurse Cindy Palmer. They will discuss pre-pregnancy planning and postpartum care; labor support and the role of the doula; managing the complicated pregnancy and birth; to breast or bottle feed; as well as information about the Family Birth Centerâs Programs for Parents.
Leticia Agosto, a registered nurse and manager of Womenâs and Childrenâs Services, will moderate the evening program.
âNutrition and Disease Prevention: From Soy to Supplements â What Really Worksâ will be held on Tuesday, March 20. Nancy Salem, a Danbury Hospital registered dietitian in the hospitalâs Outpatient Nutrition Department, will discuss nutrition and vitamins for life and good health. A free low-fat snack taste-testing and recipe giveaway will take place from 6 to 7 pm before the program.
âGood Stress/Bad Stress and Depressionâ will be discussed on Tuesday, April 10. Psychiatry and behavioral health experts will explore the effects of stress and depression and discuss when to seek professional help.
âColon Cancer: Itâs Preventableâ will be the program on Tuesday, April 17. Get the facts about colon cancer and learn why early detection and routine screening save lives.
Ample time will be provided for audience questions. Medical Town Meetings are co-sponsored by Danbury Hospital and the Danbury Office of Physician Services, PC, and are free and open to the public. No reservations are required. Park free in the Blue Visitorâs parking lot.
Danbury Hospitalâs 10th annual Childrenâs Day will be held on Saturday, March 17, from 10 am to 2 pm. The day includes free fun for the entire family featuring emergency medical services, fire and police vehicles, helicopter; singer, songwriter and storyteller John Farrell; tours and a variety of health promotion activities.
