Newtown High School’s 4x800 meter relay and one of the relay team members — Riley Powers in the 600 — had impressive results in the New England Indoor Track and Field Championships, at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston, on March 5.

The relay contingent of Powers, Hannah Snayd, Sophia Guevara, and Ally McCarthy placed sixth and bettered their school record-setting time by clocking in at 9:36.55, seven seconds better than when they captured the State Open title on February 19. The relay earned All New England recognition.

Powers came in eighth and had a personal record time of 1:37.90 in the 600.

Read more about these and other Nighthawk track standouts as they gear up for mid-March national competitions in the March 11 print edition of The Bee.
