OLD GREENWICH, CONN. — As one of the longest running antiques shows in Fairfield County, B&D Johnson Antiques is proud to announce the return of the Greenwich Kiwanis Spring Antiques Show on March 29 and 30 to the Old Greenwich Civic Center. The Greenwich Kiwanis Antiques Show is the primary fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club of Greenwich, a nonprofit organization of local businessmen and women who care about their community. The Kiwanis Club actively supports many areas of the community in need, including several scholarship programs and financial support of the local YWCA. The entire revenue generated from the Antiques Show admissions goes to the Kiwanis Club. They are the friendly faces that greet you at the show entrance and will offer information on the Kiwanis Club.

Three simple yet very significant words can be used to describe the Greenwich Kiwanis Antiques Show: balance, quality and value. Balance comes from the show’s diverse and unique group of approximately 50 dealers. For many, this is the only show they exhibit at in the region or at all, which adds a great deal of freshness to the event. Quality and value will be apparent when visiting the show. First time customers of the show are often pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the knowledgeable dealers are. Since B&D Johnson Antiques took over management of the show in 2002, the goal of making antiques more accessible and not intimidating has remained the top priority.

As usual, there will be a fine representation of American, Continental and Asian Furniture from many of the returning exhibitors from years past. What’s unusual about this year is the number of exhibitors of fine and rare objects, porcelain, silver and glass. Never before has the show had such a large and varied group of this type. Some of the new exhibitors include:

David Pownall Willis of Plainfield, N.J., specializes in the finest quality Seventeenth through Nineteenth Century porcelain, pottery, silver and glass. With more than 30 years of experience as dealer, appraiser and lecturer, he is a familiar face at some of the finer shows on the East Coast. His selection of Worcester is not to be missed.

Rebecca Hare of Hare’s Ltd from Palmyra, N.Y., will be exhibiting in this area for the first time. She’s excited about encountering a new audience for her display of select objects. Focusing on objects from the early Eighteenth through early Nineteenth Century, Rebecca’s interests range from early glass to samplers to boxes and sterling.

John Forster Fine Antiques of Sarasota, Fla., is a specialist in antique barometers. He has been conserving and selling barometers since 1979, primarily exhibiting at shows in the southern states. Along with his barometers, he will also present a selection of nautical and scientific instruments, drawings and other objects of interest.

Stephen M. Foster Fine Arts of Washington, D.C., was a late addition to the fall show and is joining us again this spring. Stephen is a dealer of Eighteenth to Twentieth Century American and European Fine Art. His inventory covers a broad range of works including landscapes, marines, still lifes, genre scenes, portraits and other figural works. Stephen is seen at East Coast shows including Princeton and the Philadelphia Armory Show.

These fine dealers will be a great addition to an already impressive exhibitors list. Throughout this show section, you’ll get a glimpse of the quality and variety to be found at the Greenwich Spring Kiwanis Antiques Show. Whether searching for fine Americana, Chinese porcelain, Continental furniture, fine art or jewelry, the wisest decorators, dealers and retail buyers know they will have an enjoyable and successful buying experience when visiting the show. We encourage you to discover the excitement!
