SWC Hockey Title Game Time Changed

Newtown High School’s hockey team, the top seed in the Southern Connecticut/ South-West Conference Division III tournament, will challenge No. 2 New Fairfield Immaculate of Danbury for the trophy on Friday, March 7. The game time, originally 6 pm, as reported in the March 7 print edition of The Bee, was changed by conference officials after deadline. The game is now slated to begin at 8 pm and will take place, as originally planned, at West Haven’s Bennett Rink.

The conference rivals each advanced with 5-2 semifinal-round wins at Milford Ice Pavilion on March 5. Newtown defeated No. 4 Sheehan of Wallingford in the first tilt, and New Fairfield-Immaculate topped third-seeded Masuk of Monroe in the nightcap.

Newtown and New Fairfield-Immaculate skated to a scoreless tie in a meeting in Danbury during the regular season.
