‘Dream Under The Stars’ To Benefit Dream Come True

“Dream Under the Stars,” the 12th annual gala for Dream Come True of Western Connecticut, will be held Saturday, March 22, at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury, with cocktails at 6 pm and dinner at 7 pm.

Silent and live auctions, dinner, and dancing to music provided by Higher & Higher will be highlights of the evening. Cost of the evening is $100 single; $200 couple; and $1,200 corporate table of ten.

The gala is one of Dream Come True’s major fundraising events each year. Proceeds go to help grant dreams to chronically, seriously, and terminally ill children, ages 4 to 18, in Fairfield, Litchfield, and New Haven counties.

This year’s live auction items include a Hawaiian vacation, handmade quilt, gourmet dinner for eight, wine tasting party donated by Yankee Discount Wine & Liquor of Newtown, hot air balloon ride, and several other big ticket items. Several silent auction items will also be featured.

This year’s host dream child is 8-year-old Michael Anthony “Mac” Carneiro of New Fairfield. His dream was “blue water,” which translated into a trip to Atlantis in the Bahamas for him and his family.

Gala tickets are still available. For information, call 790-7333.

Dream Come True is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization. Approximately 18 to 20 dreams are granted each year, ranging from trips to Disney World, Caribbean cruises, computers, backyard pools, or meeting sports stars — whatever the child’s dream is.

For information on volunteer opportunities, to suggest a child for dream fulfillment, for contributions, or for information on future events, call 790-7333.

Other upcoming fundraising events are the Ride for Dreams, Sunday, May 18, a nine-mile family fun ride or 20 to 40 mile scenic country rides, and the 12th annual Golf Outing, Monday, September 8, at the Centennial Golf Club, Carmel, N.Y.
