Lillian Ruth Gulalo peacefully passed away on March 16 at her home in Newtown.

She was born to Lillian and Richard Sparlan on April 21, 1954, in Queens, NY. She was a beautiful, kindhearted soul and beacon of comfort to her family.

Lillian and Jim moved to Newtown in 1983 from their home in Bayside, Queens. She created and owned Care Bear Corners, a home child daycare for 32 years beginning in 1984. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and annual Christmas party with Santa by all the children she helped raise who knew her as “Miss Lil”. She was a serial entrepreneur, avid collector and crafter, working with Avon, Fuller Brush, House of Lloyd, and Pampered Chef.

Lillian's love is survived by her two sons, James and Daniel, two daughter-in-law’s Krista and Diana, her caring, devoted and adoring husband of 47 years Jim, two older sisters Diane, Elaine and brother Richard, her beloved four dogs, Bella, Teddy, Dolly, Delilah and her cat Charlie. For her sons, she was their guiding light, their biggest fans, confidant, consoler and “Best Mom in the Whole Wide World”. Her family will remember her for her nurturing soul, adventurous fun nature, caring for her Chummy Doll, love of children and all her dogs that she cherished throughout her life. To everyone who knew her, she had an amazing upbeat attitude, was always up for a celebratory meal out and had a positive take on life. Finally, her pride and most precious two grandchildren, Olivia and James, will carry her legacy of love, adventure and contagious joy of life. She will continue to live on eternally in our hearts and memories, looking down upon us with all her dogs in heaven.

Calling hours for Lillian will be held Wednesday, March 20, from 3 to 7 pm at Honan Funeral Home located at 58 Main Street, Newtown. A Mass of Greek Orthodox Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday morning, March 21, at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury. Interment will follow at Newtown Village Cemetery, 20 Elm Drive, Newtown.
