Girls’ Cagers Advance To SWC Semifinal

Newtown High School’s girls’ basketball team defeated host New Fairfield 41-37 in the South-West Conference tournament quarterfinals on March 19 (read about the action in intern Shea Murphy’s coverage in the March 26 print edition).
The Nighthawks visit Notre Dame-Fairfield in the semifinals, Tuesday, March 23, starting at 6 pm.
In other conference playoff action, the Newtown-New Fairfield hockey team blanked the Joel Barlow co-op 6-0 in the March 20 quarterfinal round and will visit Milford for a semifinal game on Thursday, March 25, starting at 8 pm.
