PETER IRNIQ TALK AT HOOD APRIL 11

AVV 3-28 #694017

HANOVER, N.H. — The Hood Museum of Art presents a lunchtime talk on Wednesday, April 11, at 12:30 pm on the lawn in front of McNutt Hall (rain location TBA), given by Peter Irniq, artist and former commissioner of Nunavut.

He will speak about the Inuksuk, or “likeness of a person,” that he created in the days leading up to the “Our Land” exhibition opening events. An Inuksuk is a stone figure that acts as a beacon for travelers in Canada’s north, symbolizing the strength, leadership and motivation of the Inuit.

The Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College is on Wheelock Street. Visit www.hoodmuseum.dartmouth.edu or call 603-646-2808 for more information.
