Talking With Your Doctor, Family Advocacy For Boomers and Seniors - A one-session course from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, April 6, $29.

Planning and knowing how to effectively communicate with medical professionals is critical to properly diagnosing problems and resolving elusive issues. Becoming a family advocate for yourself, a loved one, or aging/elder family member(s) is easily achievable, once the methodology is understood and research is completed.

The course will help students understand how to face the challenges of today's fast paced society.

Finding Your Stuff Again, Decluttering and Organizing - A one-session course from 7:30 to 9 pm on Tuesday, April 19, $29.

Getting organized is one of the top New Year's resolutions, and professional organizer Karen Pierce can help guide and inspire in the quest from chaos to calm. Starting with the home, Karen will help coursegoers build a roadmap for creating balance and harmony so they can feel at home inside and out. Students are asked to bring a purse/handbag to class, and are asked not to preorganize.

Roadmap to Medicare - A one-session course from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, April 20, $29.

The course will help those with a family members or who are planning for Medicare or approaching age 65 make important decisions regarding Medicare and related medical, dental, and vision insurance. The course will address questions participants may have regarding Medicare Part A, B, and D, supplements and advantage plans, and more.

There are answers and designated resources in our local community and regional area that can help. This course will explain, sort out, answer questions and help students understand what to do.

Financial Strategies For Successful Retirement - A three-course class starting Thursday, April 21, $29.

With financial independence, retirement can be the most fulfilling time of a person's life. This class covers important money management concepts and issues that are valuable to people near or at retirement. Topics include how to reduce pressures on retirement income and which assets are appropriate for retirement income.

A "hear it, see it, read it, write it" teaching method makes it easy to understand and remember the practical information. No products or investments will be promoted or offered. By condensing up-to-date financial information into three classroom sessions, this seminar gives coursegoers the answers they need. A $30 material fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.

Tangling Around - A one-session class from 6:30 to 8:30 pm starting on Thursday, April 21, $29.

Participants will learn to draw a mandala then add Zentangle designs. When Zentangles meet mandalas, it's all about symmetry and fun.

No prior Zentangle experience is necessary. Students will need to purchase supplies and a list will be provided.

Introduction to Sewing - A two-session course from 6 to 8 pm starting Thursday, April 28, $59.

Participants will learn the basics of sewing by creating easy pillows that can be made to measure in almost any fabric featuring a removable cover that doesn't require a zipper. All materials will be purchased following the first class session with guidance from the instructor.

Students should bring their sewing machine, manual, and accessories. The course is limited to eight students.

Rockefeller Estate and Union Church, Tarrytown, New York - An excursion that will depart Newtown High School approximately at 8:30 am is set for Saturday, June 4, $99.

The excursion to the Rockefeller Estate and Union Church, Tarrytown, N.Y., will highlight the home to four generations of the Rockefeller family. Kykuit (pronounced "Kye-cut") commands a breathtaking view of the Hudson River and a landscape of extensive stone terraces, formal gardens, and glorious fountains.

The gardens include Nelson Rockefeller's extraordinary collection of 20th Century sculpture including works by Moore, Calder, Nevelson and Picasso. The house is furnished with antiques, fine ceramics, and paintings. The Coach Barn houses vintage automobiles and carriages.

Participants will have a guided tour, and they will have time to enjoy lunch in downtown Tarrytown. The afternoon will consist of a guided tour of the Union Church in Pocantico Hills. The church is adorned with stained glass windows by Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse that were commissioned by the Rockefeller Family. They create dramatic combinations of light and color at this small country church.
