Several Newtown High School sporting events are on hold today, Thursday, April 7, because of rain.

On the baseball diamond, Ridgefield's visit to NHS has been switched to tomorrow, Friday, April 8, beginning at 4 pm. The softball team's matchup with Darien has also been rescheduled for tomorrow, with Newtown hosting a 4:15 pm rematch of last year's state playoff game, won by Darien.

On the tennis courts, the girls' squad's match with Bunnell of Stratford has been changed until tomorrow, and relocated to Treadwell Park, beginning at 3:45 pm. The boys' tennis team is scheduled to play Pomperaug of Southbury at the same time, at NHS, in a match rescheduled from earlier in the week.

The girls' lacrosse team's home game with Bethel and the boys' lacrosse team's visit to Bethel have both been moved to Saturday, May 14; the girls will host their game at 2 pm, and the boys will be on the road at 5 pm.

The girls' golf team's visit to Stratford has postponed to a date and time to be determined. As of the early afternoon, an announcement has not been made on boys' golf, scheduled to visit Joel Barlow of Redding at Redding Country Club (check nighthawksports.com for updates).

One team not impacted by rain, the boys' volleyball squad, will visit Danbury today, beginning at 4 pm.
