avv/gs set 4-9 #695342

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms opens the season with a Thursday evening porch talk on April 19 at 7.

Volunteer docent Peter Mars focuses on the housekeeping practices of 1910 for a lively contrast with the vast array of products and equipment that is available today.

Learn what materials and techniques were in use in Gustav Stickley’s time and continue to be used. Discover the practices used by homemakers long ago that can help with the current ecological challenges. A former design instructor at Parsons School of Design, Mars’ interests center on design and technology and how they affect the life of everyday people.

The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms is owned by the Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills and is operated as a historic house museum by the nonprofit Craftsman Farms Foundation. Craftsman Farms is at 2352 Route 10 West. For information, 973-540-1165.
