The Danbury Music Centre’s (DMC) annual 5K will take place in a new coronavirus-safe format for 2021. There is no official starting line and this year, as participants will select their own 5K (3.1 mile) course. The virtual race got started April 17 and runs through April 25.

Participants may walk, run, bike, or dance to complete the event. As the event is virtual, there is an option to dance for 30 minutes, a close approximation to running a 5K.

The goal is to have fun while supporting Danbury Music Centre programs. Once they’ve completed their chosen 5K, entrants can send a picture from their “finish line” and be entered into a raffle for prizes.

Proceeds will go to DMC’s mission of bringing concerts and music appreciation to the people of the greater Danbury community and benefit programs such as the annual Nutcracker Ballet, Danbury Symphony Orchestra, Danbury Community Orchestra, Danbury Concert Chorus, Danbury Centre Strings, Summer Strings, Summer Bands, Summer Orchestra, Chamber Music Intensive, and more.

Additional information about registration and the Danbury Music Centre may be found at danburymusiccentre.org or by calling 203-748-1716.

Sandy Hook and Newtown residents are getting ready for the Danbury Music Centre’s 5K FUNdraiser.
