Nighthawk Volleyball Team Wins Three Straight Matches

Newtown High School’s boys’ volleyball team has won three straight matches in the minimum number of games to improve to 5-2. The Nighthawks defeated Daniel Hand of Madison 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-11) on April 21; bested Amity of Woodbridge 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-16) on April 23; and beat Masuk of Monroe 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-18) on April 26.

In the win over Hand, Luke Hannon had seven kills, one dig, one ace, and a block; Brandon Akbas logged four kills, one dig, and one block; Aidan Stout tallied nine kills, four digs, and an ace; Thad Teraszkiewicz compiled ten kills, four digs, two aces, and one block; Matt Mattera had seven kills, six digs, and aces; and Sawyer Findley racked up 34 assists.

Against Amity, Stout had ten kills, eight digs, and an ace; Teraszkiewicz recorded kills, nine digs, and two aces; Hannon totaled eight kills, one dig, and a pair of blocks; and Findley logged 31 assists, two aces, and one dig.

In the Masuk match, Teraszkiewicz piled up 17 kills, two aces, and 13 digs; Hannon had six kills and a block; and Findley registered 33 assists, ten digs, and one ace.
