The Chamber of Commerce of Newtown, the Town of Newtown, and Newtown Community Center invite residents to “Celebrate your household for staying home to keep us all safe and healthy,” Saturday, May 2, with Horns For Hope.

Participants can show appreciation “for neighbors, essential workers, first responders, small business owners, churches, and volunteers,” according to information from the Chamber, by making “Thank You” signs and decorating yards or windows; hanging a flag; and then taking pictures of the effort and posting on social media with #NewtownCT.

Beginning at 7 pm for five minutes, enjoy local church bells ringing and calls to prayer.

From 7:05 to 7:10 pm, emergency sirens and horns will sound, celebrating community helpers.

From 7:15 pm to 7:20 pm, residents are invited to join in the clamor by being “as loud as you can to give thanks.”
