This month’s meeting of Newtown Genealogy Club will be held on Wednesday, May 8, at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown.

The meeting starts at 7 pm and as always, is open to non-members free of charge.

This month’s speaker is Joseph Camposeo, who has been Town Clerk of Manchester since 1996. Prior to being elected, he served as both a member and secretary for the town’s Board of Directors, and member of the Board of Education from 1978 until 1988.

An important facet of genealogy research is interacting with Town Clerks in many towns throughout Connecticut and in other locations as well.  Mr Camposeo will provide valuable insights into using town records for family research.

Mr Camposeo is a past president of the Connecticut Town Clerks Association. Prior to becoming president, he served as chairman of the Legislative Committee as well as the Association’s first Vice President.  He is also a member of the National Association of County Recorders and Municipal Clerks, International Institute Municipal Clerks, New England Association of City and Town Clerks, National Property Recorders and Property Records Industry Associations.

In his tenure as Town Clerk, he has served on various committees in the town, including a committee for historic preservation.

Light refreshments will be served.
