Harvey Botsford Rasmussen

Harvey Botsford Rasmussen, 86, of Newtown, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, died peacefully May 2 at Bethel Health Care. He was born December 6, 1927, to Mayla and George Rasmussen of Botsford. He was the loving husband of Leota (Walther) Rasmussen for 57 years.

He was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Mr Rasmussen attended Hawley School and graduated from Bullard Havens High School in Bridgeport. He worked for Lovell's Garage in Newtown as parts manager for 32 years. He then worked in the maintenance stock room at Fairfield Hills Hospital for 10 years, until his retirement in 1994.

He enjoyed his retirement with the love of his life, Leota, and enjoyed big band music, painting, traveling, and the comforts of his home.

His wife; sisters-in-law Fansion Rasmussen, Julia Person, and Betty Jean Mertens, and her husband Frederick; brother-in-law Harold Berglund; and cousins, nieces, and a nephew survive Mr Rasmussen. His parents, brother Carl Rasmussen, and sisters Shirley Kamas and Eunice Berglund predeceased him.

The family wishes to thank the many personnel at Bethel Health Care and Regional Hospice of Danbury for providing Mr Rasmussen with professional and compassionate care and loving support for his wife during this difficult time.

A memorial service will take place Wednesday, May 7, at 4 pm, at Stepney Baptist Church, 423 Main Street, Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stepney Baptist Church, The Salvation Army, or a charity of choice.
