Newtown High’s boys’ volleyball team went on the road and fell to Oxford 3-1 (25-14, 21-25, 26-24, 25-21) on April 26.

Oxford outpaced the Nighthawks in the first set capturing a 1-0 lead. Newtown, however, was unfazed as the Nighthawks bounced back to take the second set despite a Wolverine comeback. Oxford came out firing to start the third set forcing a Nighthawk timeout trailing 11-4. Led by strong serving by sophomore middle A.J. The fourth set started back and forth before Oxford pulled away, getting to match point at 24-17. After a Newtown timeout, and anchored by more strong serving by Bacon, the Hawks fought to within three at 24-21 before Oxford ended it.
