Hold Out For Adequate Funding

To the Editor:

In an email that was sent on Tuesday (5/4) to all the parents in Newtown, Janet Robinson maintains that this budget provides “inadequate funding... But, the reality of the situation is additional cuts will be made if the next referendum is defeated.”

Well, for those of us that wish to have “adequate funding” provided to the education budget now, we are left with a choice and either way it is a “roll the dice.” If we vote Yes, we certainly will lose teachers and educational programs because of “inadequate funding.” If we vote No, we stand the risk of further cuts (...but, this is by no means certain).

So, I feel that until Janet Robinson says that she has adequate funding we must let the Legislative Council know that we will continue to vote No, No, No until our education budget is adequately funded. Consider that our children’s future is at stake!
