The Flagpole Radio Café will return to the stage of Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, on Saturday, May 11, at 7 pm.

Grammy Award-winning electro-acoustic violist and composer Martha Mooke was already on the bill when the show was announced in March. Now organizers are thrilled to announce the addition of legendary beatboxer Rahzel, who will be joining Mooke for part of her set.

Tickets are $45 and available at edmondtownhall.ticketleap.com or flagpoleproductions.org.

Rahzel’s remarkable vocal technique and singing style are considered by some to be among the world’s greatest musical treasures. One of the most influential artists in modern music, Rahzel’s unique vocal techniques redefined the art of beatboxing to make him one of the most exciting and critically acclaimed performers of our time.

He has earned three Grammy awards, seven more Grammy nominations, scores of international music awards, and popular accolades around the world.

Rahzel does not play any instrument; he is the instrument. His singular ability to re-create full songs without instrumentation, sing a chorus and provide the musical melody simultaneously, and invoke a plethora of sound effects on a whim, creates an inimitable visual and aural experience.

Martha Mooke is a Grammy Award-winning, pioneering electro-acoustic violist/composer, highly regarded for her artistry, music advocacy, and innovative educational programs. She transcends musical boundaries, enhancing classical training with extended techniques, technology, and improvisation.

A Yamaha Artist and Eventide’s first Artist in Residence, Mooke created and directs the cutting edge Multi-Style Strings program at New Jersey City University.

Flagpole Radio Café Producer Martin Blanco calls the updated lineup for this weekend “an embarrassment of riches.

“With Rahzel joining Martha Mooke for part of her set, we will be presenting an astonishing mix of musical styles realized by the highest levels of virtuosity,” Blanco continued. “We pride ourselves on bringing distinctive music to each one of our shows, but this time, we will be raising the bar to new heights.”

The Flagpole Radio Café is an evening of engaging music and compelling comedy performed by an ensemble of local artists and changing guest artists. The ensemble comprises musicians Jim Allyn, Rick Brodsky, Howie Carlough, Cadence Carroll, and Francine Wheeler, and actors Martin Blanco, Barbara Gaines, Kate Katcher, and David Wheeler
