Arthur E. Simko

Arthur E. Simko, age 90, of Newtown, passed away peacefully on May 7 at Danbury Hospital, after a long illness. Born on June 11, 1929, in Bridgeport, to Janos and Maria Szabo Simko, Art grew up in Monroe and graduated from Bullard Haven High School and later moved to Newtown.

He worked in the construction industry as a job foreman in the Connecticut and New York area. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed traveling, especially to fish in Alaska.

In his later years, he was happiest spending time with his grandson, Michael. He was predeceased by his parents; his second wife Luree Simko; and his third wife Charlotte Simko; and by his brothers Janos and Andrej Simko; and sister Mary Dinan. He leaves two daughters, Mary-Ellen Faroni and husband, Russ, and Patricia Limauro and husband, James, of Bethany; and two stepdaughters, Dagmar Budd of Cummings, Ga. and Diana Howard and husband, Rich, of Poway, Calif. He also leaves two grandsons, Russell, Jr, and Michael P. Faroni; and three stepgrandchildren, Christopher and Alex Budd, and Ryan Howard.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
