The Town of Newtown’s Economic Development Commission, in conjunction with the Economic and Community Development Department, hosted the April meeting of the Fairfield County Commercial Brokers’ Network (FCCBN) on April 26.

Winthrop E. Baum, founder of WEB Realty Company in Norwalk, welcomed the group of approximately 70 guests to the luncheon, which was held at the Edmond Town Hall’s Alexandria Room.

Mr Baum introduced Wes Thompson, Chairman of Newtown’s Economic Development Commission; and Keynote Speaker, Newtown’s First Selectman Daniel C. Rosenthal.

Mr Rosenthal highlighted the many positive economic development activities happening in the town, as well as the continuing infrastructure improvements, including sewers, bridges and roads that set the stage for supporting successful business ventures in Newtown.

A video was shown highlighting Newtown’s business districts as well as events and businesses throughout town. Lunch and desserts were provided, highlighting the vibrant restaurant class of trade located in Newtown and Sandy Hook.

“Bringing commercial brokers from lower Fairfield County to Newtown gives them first-hand knowledge of the town and reminds them to think of Newtown when they are looking for commercial real estate for their clients,” noted Christal Preszler, Newtown Deputy Director of Economic and Community Development.

Established in 2003, the Fairfield County Commercial Brokers Network is a vital association of commercial real estate and related businesses from this idyllic and prosperous New England shoreline region.

Together, its members seek to gather and communicate commercial real estate opportunities.
