Jack R. Hanna

Jack Robert Hanna, 65, of Mountain Manor Road, Sandy Hook, died unexpectedly at Danbury Hospital May 6 after being stricken ill at the Home Depot Store in Danbury. He was the husband of June (Meyers) Hanna.

Mr Hanna was born in Bridgeport on May 29, 1938, a son of the late John F. and Frances (Menedick) Hanna. He lived in Stratford until moving to Newtown at the time of his marriage in 1961. After graduation from Bullard Havens Technical School, Electrical Department, in 1956, Mr Hanna worked at Sperry Rail in Danbury and Remington Arms in Bridgeport as an electrician. From 1972 to the present, Mr Hanna along with his family, owned and maintained rental property in the local area.

Jack was a well-loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and he was a respected businessman.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Jack R. Hanna, Jr, and his wife April and their daughter, Amanda, and Jeffrey L. Hanna and his wife Leslie and their children, Melissa, Jeffrey Jr, Jason, Tyler, Travis, and Ethan, all of Newtown; one brother, William F. Hanna and his wife Donna of Newtown; one sister, Dorothy Layton and her husband Marshall of Camp Hill, Penn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held May 8 in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment followed in Zoar Cemetery.
