The Garden Club of Newtown will host “How To Make A DIY Bog in The Front Yard” during its next meeting, Tuesday, May 27. The program will begin at 1 pm in the meeting room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

Barbara and Peter Rzasa will return with a program about how to create a bog garden in a front garden, or anywhere else readers may find a place in their gardens.

The Rzasas are well-known nature photographers who specialize in native plants and wildflowers. They gave a well-received presentation on this topic this past spring and have additional information to share about plants appropriate for wet areas.

The program will consist of several photos of the special plants that have been successfully grown in their Connecticut soil.

Reservations are not needed but additional information may be available from Mary Thomas at 203-426-9696.

Triadenum virginicum (Virginia marsh St John’s Wort) is a suitable plant for bog gardening, a subject to be covered during the next Garden Club of Newtown program.
