Vernon Theodore Gantnier

Vernon Theodore Gantnier, 79, died after a long illness at Danbury Hospital on May 31.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Mary O’Connor Gantnier; his son, Kevin Gantnier and wife, Barbara, of Newtown; daughters Kathleen Gilmore and husband, Pat, of Parker, Colo., and Mona Gantnier of Stockton, Calif.; as well as his seven grandchildren, Colleen, Kevin, Meghan, Sean, Amanda, Kyle and Max; and many nieces and nephews.

Vernon, loving husband, father, grandfather (PopPop), uncle, was born in Darien on January 12, 1926. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean War.  He worked at the New Canaan Country Club and the Redding Country Club, as well as the Fair Oaks West in Sunnyvale, Calif.

A celebration of his life memorial service was held at St James Church in Danbury, June 2.
